1. Liability Release

1.1 Acknowledgment of Risks

I, the undersigned, understand and acknowledge that surfing and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) involve inherent risks, including but not limited to:

• Drowning, near-drowning, and water-related injuries;
• Collisions with surfboards, paddles, other participants, or objects (rocks, reefs, boats, etc.);
• Injuries from waves, currents, and marine life;
• Cuts, bruises, sprains, fractures, or other bodily harm;
• Equipment failure, improper use, or unpredictable weather conditions.

I voluntarily assume all risks associated with my participation.

1.2 Obligation to Follow Instructions

I agree to:

• Follow all instructions given by instructors before, during, and after the lesson.
• Wear the required safety equipment, including a leash and (if applicable) a life vest.
• Stay within designated teaching areas and follow safety procedures.

I acknowledge that failure to follow instructions may increase the risk of injury, and that Freeride Surf School is not responsible for accidents resulting from my negligence or reckless behavior.

1.3 Release of Liability & Indemnity

I hereby release, waive, and discharge Freeride Surf School (Extremo Sul, Lda), its owners, instructors, employees, and affiliates from any liability, claims, or legal actions related to injury, property damage, or death arising from my participation, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct by the company.

I also agree to indemnify and hold harmless Freeride Surf School against any claims arising from my actions.

1.4 Medical Fitness & Emergency Authorization

I certify that I am physically fit to participate in surfing/SUP and have no medical conditions that would increase my risk of injury. In case of emergency, I authorize Freeride Surf School to provide first aid and/or seek medical treatment on my behalf.

1.5 Photography & Media Release

Photos and videos may be taken during lessons for promotional purposes. Participants will be asked to consent (Yes / No) on the liability release form on arrival and may withdraw consent at any time by emailing info@frsurf.com.

1.6 Legal Agreement

I understand that by signing this document (or by booking and paying for any service), I waive my right to sue for injuries, except in cases of gross negligence. I have read this agreement and sign it voluntarily.

2. Booking, Cancellation & Refund Policy

2.1 Changes & Cancellations

• Cancellations or changes in the reservation with less than 30 days' notice are not refunded.
• No-shows are not refundable.
• If you are late and miss the lesson, there will be no refund. Please respect the schedules.
• Any changes or cancellations to your lessons after arrival and payment of the remaining balance will not be refunded.
• You can move lessons to other days only if you give notice 48 hours in advance by email to info@frsurf.com.
• Once you have arrived and started your course, no further cancellations of any surf lesson are possible.

2.2 Packaged Lessons (Multi-Lesson Packages)

Lesson packages (e.g. 3-lesson packs, 5-lesson packs, Surf Week, Surf & Stay) are sold as a complete package at a discounted rate.

• If you do not use all the lessons included in your package, no refund will be given for the unused lessons.
• Packages are non-transferable unless agreed in writing by Freeride Surf School.
• Any changes to dates within a package must follow the 48-hour notice rule above.

2.3 Booking & Platform Fees

Any booking fees, service fees, or platform fees charged by our online booking provider (e.g. Surfslot, FareHarbor or similar third-party platforms) are non-refundable, even if the booking is subsequently cancelled or refunded. These fees are retained by the platform and are outside of Freeride Surf School's control.

2.4 Bank & Transfer Fees

Any transfer fees or bank commissions charged by banks for payments or refunds are paid by the client. Freeride Surf School will not cover these bank fees or commissions.

2.5 Weather & Safety

• Lessons and SUP tours can be made in shorter time due to weather or meteorological conditions. In these cases there will be no refunds.
• If Freeride Surf School cancels the lesson due to unsafe weather or ocean conditions, the student will be refunded or offered a reschedule (excluding non-refundable platform / booking fees).
• Final decisions on whether conditions are safe are made by our instructors and are binding.

2.6 Changes After Arrival / Balance Paid

Any changes or cancellations to your lessons after arrival and payment of the remaining balance will not be refunded. You can move the lessons to other days only if you give notice 48 hours in advance by email to info@frsurf.com.

2.7 Surf & Stay — Accommodation

• Accommodation bookings follow the cancellation terms of the partner accommodation provider.
• Early check-outs or unused nights are non-refundable.
• Damages caused to the accommodation are the responsibility of the guest.

2.8 Rentals

• Rental equipment must be returned in the same condition as received.
• Lost, stolen, or damaged equipment (beyond normal wear) will be charged to the renter at the replacement value.
• Rental periods start and end at the times agreed at checkout. Late returns may incur additional charges.

2.9 Pricing

Prices of Freeride Surf School may change without prior notice. The price applicable to your booking is the one displayed at the time of confirmation.

3. General

• By signing the liability release form, booking online, or purchasing any product or service from Freeride Surf School — Extremo Sul, Lda — you agree to all of these terms and conditions.
• Minors (under 18) must have a parent or legal guardian sign the liability release and terms on their behalf.
• These terms are governed by Portuguese law. Any disputes may be submitted to the Centro de Arbitragem de Consumo do Algarve (see details in the footer of this website).
