Long, sandy and forgiving — Praia da Cordoama is our home beach and one of the best all-level surf spots on the entire Algarve coast.
Praia da Cordoama is one of the most beautiful — and most versatile — surf beaches on the Algarve's west coast. It's also where you'll find our seasonal Beach Hut from June to November, complete with surfboard rentals, wetsuits and walk-in lessons.
Wave conditions at Cordoama
Cordoama is a long west-facing sandy beach with multiple peaks. Because the swells move along the coast, you can almost always find a section that matches your level — gentle white-water inside for beginners and faster green waves further out for intermediates.
The beach handles a wide swell range. On smaller summer days it's perfect for learning. On bigger autumn and winter days, the outside peaks turn into proper performance waves.
Best tides and conditions
Cordoama works best from low to mid tide rising. Light north-easterly winds (the typical summer 'nortada') hold the waves up nicely. On strong west winds, we move our lessons to more sheltered south coast beaches.
Practical info: parking, facilities, rentals
There's a large free car park at the top of the cliff with a paved road down to the beach. A simple beach café serves drinks and snacks in summer.
Our Beach Hut is right on the sand. Rent a board and wetsuit, book a walk-in lesson, or just grab a coffee and wax. Local advice from people who surf this beach every day is part of the package.
